Summary

The Programmes Coordinator will have oversight of all programmatic activities at JYAN. They will provide advisory and programme management services to the organisation and the core team. The Programmes Coordinator will conceptualise activities, prepare concept notes as needed, and lead the execution of activities and initiatives. They will lead the supervision of the Advocacy Council and support stakeholder engagement where necessary. The Programmes Coordinator will also give advocacy support, capacity building, and knowledge building.



Education, Expertise & Other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Public Health Administration, Law, Project Management or other related social science.

  • At least two years of experience in programme/project management and coordination, human rights, and/or youth development. Experience and knowledge of child rights and youth issues are assets.

  • Demonstrated success in planning and executing advocacy activities, ideally involving youth and around areas of youth development and human rights, including planning and conducting advocacy campaigns to achieve policy outcomes.

  • Interest in public health, commitment to public interest work and experience on food policy issues are a plus.

  • Experience working within civil society and with vulnerable and marginalised groups is considered an asset.Equal Opportunity Statement

Scope of Work

The Programmes Coordinator is required, but not limited to:

  • Lead the design and development of programmes and projects, ensuring alignment with donor directives and the organisation’s strategic objectives.

  • Conduct assessments and consult with key stakeholders to identify priority areas for intervention.

  • Develop and support the development of detailed project plans, including goals, objectives, activities, timelines and resource requirements.

  • Coordinate and execute outreach and awareness-raising initiatives and events, including logistical arrangements where necessary.

  • Organise, or otherwise support the organising of, events to advance JYAN’s advocacy agenda and overall work.

  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks to track programme performance and impact.

  • Regularly assess programme progress, identify challenges and propose solutions to improve effectiveness.

  • Conduct specific project reporting, monitoring and evaluation functions, as required, to ensure achievement of project targets.

  • Support organisational activities through lobbying civil society, government agencies and other key stakeholders to advocate for policies and initiatives.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, non-governmental organisations, community groups and youth organisations.

  • Represent JYAN in meetings, conferences and other forums to promote programmes and foster partnerships.

  • Facilitate the active participation of youth in programme design, implementation and evaluation.

  • Provide direct oversight of the Advocacy Council, ensuring they are routinely apprised of the work being carried out and how they can support it.

  • Coordinate capacity-building opportunities for the Advocacy Council and other youth groups and advocates.
